Sketchbook Trawlin 2

In Sketchbook Trawlin, I go through my old sketchbooks stretching right back to childhood and share anything interesting I find.

Today theres some loose sheets from here and there and a couple from an old book.

I think this is from a Dr Sketchys event circa...2008 maybe? Trying my hand at some post sketching ink work here, interesting, I havent done that in some time, I should try again, I like the effect with pencil

An idea from a uni project - I wanted to do a biological transformer - an alien hiding inside a human shell - what would have happened if the Autobots and Decepticons copied people instead of 1980s Trucks and Cars

A loose sketch from another Burlesque drawing event, those are always such fun

Once I was away for a weekend where I really didnt want to be, I worked every angle and detail as much as I could just to escape for awhile. Wouldve rendered it but I thought the pose was kinda boring ultimately.

Another uni drawing, a concept for a Generic 'Space Ace' type of hero for a cartoon inside a cartoon - made him a cowboy instead in the end

Uni again - part of a storyboard for an animation about the legend of Orpheus and Eurydice

To round it out, heres one fromm when I was around...13-14 I think? I was starting to experiment with shading, I spent ages working on the Elf (no idea why I gave him a big feather, nor why he is holding his spear AWAY from his enemy...looks like hes saying "No! NO! BAD CHAOS KNIGHT!") and then decided to just quickly draw a crappy enemy to fight...apparently I didnt know how a pelvis should look if youre not an action figure.

In Sketchbook Trawlin, I go through my old sketchbooks stretching right back to childhood and share anything interesting I find.

I never throw a sketchbook away, so there's a lot of material to get through. This comes from a book circa 2010-11.

Dr Sketchys Life Drawing presents some great opportunities to practice unusual poses and elaborate costumes. On this day however, I decided to focus on the ass. Gotta say, I think I did a good job.

Life Drawing, think I really captured the curve of the spine

Think I was having my first go at an anime style, no idea what it is shes holding in her hand....some for m of stethoscope I think? 

Eye render - the eye is a bloody hard thing to draw, I remember really focusing on all the shadowing and the darkness around the edge of the iris down 

Costume ideas for a kind of tough biker character - because wouldn't you too quake in fear if you were approached by someone dressed as the WWEs undertaker?

A goofy one to go out on - character faces - this was me trying to balance toughness and cartooniness and achieving something more akin to complete dopiness. The one on the upper right looks like Abe Lincoln starring in Grease.....Id actually watch that.
